TRONDHEIM, Norway – Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum Energy has approved Total’s planned NOK 1.3 billion ($231.8 million) scheme for the Atla field development in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
Atla (ex-David) is a gas/condensate discovery in license 102C, 20 km (12.5 mi) northeast of the Heimdal field. Subsea facilities will be installed, and then linked to the existing pipeline between Heimdal and Skirne, both of which Total also operates.
Total plans to reuse the October 2010 exploration well as a producer. According to partner Det norske oljeselskap, first gas should flow in September 2012.
